Note: I just finished watching a TV special on Andrea Yeager, a professional tennis player whose career ended with a shoulder injury when she was 19. She founded a retreat center for children with cancer and spent her entire savings and pension on the project. She also encouraged others to join her project.
Andrea recently became an Episcopalian nun. She said it was God’s call for her. She knew her calling was service, but it was up to God to figure out how. Later in the broadcast, I heard her words: ‘there is a big difference between a passion and a mission.”
I’m looking forward to seeing you at Panera’s at 78th and Dodge on Monday night. We’ll pray together and try to our mission for the rest of the summer and into the first semester.
Part of that schedule already includes the March for Peace (see marchforpeace.info) on Saturday. There will be regional bands and speakers on a variety of topics, including Global Warming and Immigration and walking around at the Louis Palau event on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday morning, we have the opportunity to share in worship at Clair United Methodist Church. The adults there will be asking, “how can we help the UNO ministry?” If you have ideas about the answers to that question, please let us know.
